Nick Galumbus
Pastor
Nick was blessed to grow up in a Christian home, and was saved at the age of 16. A couple years later, the Lord began to convict him about his need to surrender to preach. He fought this call for months as he had other plans for his life, but he finally surrendered to this call during a Missions Conference. Shortly thereafter he started his formal training in his local church's Bible Institute. After graduation, he spent time traveling throughout southern Africa helping and learning from different missionaries.
From 2021-2023, He served on staff at Bible Baptist Church in Grand Forks, ND serving in their Digital and Media Ministry, Children's Ministry, as well as teaching in the Bible Institute. From March of 2024 until December of 2025, Nick Served in Harvest Baptist Church of Larimore, ND as their Associate Pastor.
In January 2026, Nick was ordained by Long Island Baptist Church to be their next pastor. He echoes the words of Paul, when He thanks the Lord for both putting him into the ministry, as well as enabling him to serve the Lord with his life.
The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
- Psalm 126:3

My story begins in late 2001, when a faithful friend continued to invite me to LIBC. I did not think I needed to go to her church, since I was brought up Catholic and occasionally went to church. I thought everything was fine and that I was heaven-bound because I was baptized as a baby, lived a pretty good life, and believed God knew my heart. My friend continued to ask and told me about a family preaching conference that was going to be held at the church. As a man who was newly married with small children, my wife and I were feeling the stress and strain of our newfound relationships and responsibilities, and I thought this might be a good idea—to go to the conference and that maybe the preaching would straighten my wife out. As we entered the church, we were greeted and made welcome. Some of the first things I noticed were that everyone had their own Bible and that they seemed to know their way around the Bible very well. After singing some hymns, we sat down and began to hear the Word preached. I had never heard Bible preaching, but I liked it. As we went from verse to verse, I realized that the preacher was not teaching us his own personal views but was teaching us the Word of God. As we continued to hear the preaching at the family conference, the focus switched to the responsibility of the man in the marriage. As I heard that the man was to symbolize Christ in the marriage and that he was to love his wife as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it, I began to fall under deep conviction. Although the preaching made me uncomfortable, I knew that it was truth because I could see it written down in black and white. Was I really being sacrificial and transparent? Did I love my wife like Christ loved the church?
As we continued to visit the church and hear the messages, I began to realize that all my life I was counting on my own righteousness and my own goodness to earn God’s favor. I finally learned that the Bible states that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and that none of us can make it to heaven by our own goodness, and that we are not saved by our self-righteousness. It was not by what I did for Him, but by what He did for me.
After five months of preaching, I came to a crossroads in my life. Was I going to continue to try to earn salvation by attempting to establish my own righteousness—by being a good person, doing good works, or being well-liked? Or was I going to repent of that belief and put all my faith, trust, and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ for my salvation? The Bible declared that by simply believing in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ as payment for my sin, I would be made righteous and be born again into God’s family and have everlasting life. In April 2002, I believed on Christ, and Him alone, for my salvation and understood that salvation is not something that I can merit or earn, but is a free gift received by grace through faith. I happily received the free gift. Soon after, my wife was also born again, and we have had the privilege of serving the Lord through His local church since 2002. Our marriage is strong, our family is strong, and the friendships we have forged in our church have become family.
If you are reading this, I hope that you come for a visit and learn what the Bible has to say about mankind’s need and how that need has been met by the Lord Jesus Christ.

My wife and I have been Long Islanders all our lives. We have been married for over 35 years, and between us we have five children and six grandchildren.
Over 30 years ago, we were searching for a church that our family would be able to attend, and we found it. The Lord led us to First Baptist Church of Sayville, now known as Long Island Baptist Church. From the very first day, we were so impressed with the welcoming spirit of everyone and the preaching that we knew this church was special. So we continued attending, and we heard so many life-changing messages from the pulpit that we knew we needed salvation.
After we received the Lord’s gift of salvation, our lives began to change as we learned more from the Bible. The relationship we had together became more loving and sweet. (II Corinthians 5:17)
The relationship we have with each of our church members is special and loving. The Lord has used us to serve Him in so many ways. My wife has been a nursery worker, children’s church teacher, and serves during our brunches and fellowship lunches. The Lord has used me to serve Him as an usher, welcoming all who come through our doors in the same way I was welcomed over 30 years ago. (John 13:34–35)
I don’t know where we would be today if it weren’t for the relationship we have with the Lord and with the church. Praise the Lord for leading us so many years ago to this church!
